Take Out Box
This installation is my MFA thesis that lived in the KrannertArt Museum for a short while. Above is a video document of the work. What you see is a video that is playing on the television that the two sculptures in bed are watching. I designed and crafted the wooden “craftmatic” bed. The work follows my political interests in identity and consumerism.
Labor of Love
In this installation I use the front space like a stage where I placed a grouping of wooden vessels with projected white light, which is what you see in the above video document. Behind the stage, viewers often locate themselves in the back of the space after taking a close look at the different pastel-colored vessels, which have words like “love me” and “be mine” in the inside bottom. The installation starts with a projector shining white light on the stage. After a little bit of time “elevator muzak” starts to become audible and when it becomes obviously noticeable the projector flickers dark light which makes the room dark. A laugh track is incorporated soon after. The cadence of the show evolves into violent images of zombies and jarring noises. The experience ends as innocently as it started.
